Artist Bio

Atlanta-based artist Jean Nix, working under the name Bent Shapes, creates bold abstract paintings that explore what she calls “emotional geometry.” Inspired by her folk artist mother, Nix grew up surrounded by handmade creativity and expression. Her work features fluid, organic forms and layered acrylic surfaces that convey movement, tension, and transformation. Beyond her individual practice, she is the co-founder of the experimental creative studio Nitetime Paperwork, where artists collaborate across art and design, sharing critique and developing new work.

Visual Language of Transition

I explore what I call “emotional geometry” through fluid forms and saturated color. Using bent shapes as a visual language of transition, my work reflects adaptation, evolution, and transformation through shifting geometries and layered acrylic surfaces. Organic compositions create visual rhythms rooted in movement, emotion, and change.
